About Cardinham Parish Council
Cardinham Parish Council represents the local community within the parish of Cardinham. While the Parish Council does not make final decisions on planning applications, it plays an important and influential role in reviewing and commenting on proposals that affect the Parish.
The Council’s aim is to ensure that development within the parish:
- Reflects the character and heritage of the local area
- Protects the environment and countryside
- Supports the needs of residents
- Complies with local and national planning policies
How the Parish Council is Consulted
All planning applications within the Parish are submitted to Cornwall Council, which is the local planning authority responsible for making the final decision.
When an application is validated, Cornwall Council formally consults Cardinham Parish Council. The Parish Council then:
- Reviews the application details
- Considers relevant planning policies
- Discusses the proposal at a public Parish Council meeting
- Submits an official comment or recommendation
The recommendation may be to support, object, or offer observations on the application. The final decision remains with Cornwall Council.
Public Participation and Speaking at Meetings
Planning applications are discussed at Parish Council meetings, which are open to the public.
If you have submitted a planning application to Cornwall Council, or if you wish to comment on an application affecting you, you are warmly invited to attend the relevant meeting.
Applicants are encouraged to:
- Attend the meeting where their application is being considered
- Briefly explain their proposal in the Public Session
- Answer any questions from councillors
Members of the public may also register to speak in accordance with the Council’s public participation policy.
Meeting dates and agendas are published in advance on the Parish Council website and noticeboards.
